Tax-deferred like-kind exchanges have long been an important strategy utilized by real estate investors. Real Estate and Escrow professionals who hope to service such investors must have a clear understanding of the practical and theoretical operation of §1031 of the Internal Revenue Code. This seminar will provide an essential understanding of the investment strategy, statutory requirements, and practical compliance issues pertaining to 1031 exchanges. Forward, reverse, construction, and leasehold exchanges will be explained on both a theoretical and practical basis. Mr. Beck is a principal of Summit Exchange Services, L.L.C., and a shareholder of the Salt Lake City law firm of Cohne Kinghorn, P.C. where his practice focuses on tax sensitive real estate transactions.

Summit Exchange has provided like-kind, tax deferred accommodation services for thousands of clients since 1997. Mr. Beck is a frequent lecturer on the subject and has served as an expert witness. He is a member of the Utah State Bar and has been admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, the United States Tax Court, and the United States Court of Federal Claims.
